How about a painting party?

Do you ever think that having a painting party or private painting event might be a fantastic way to have a good time and have a glimpse into art creation secrets? Many people admit they are extremely exhausted, tired and losing interest in their daily chores. There are plenty of people who suffer from the burnout syndrome. That happens especially when the job involves some kind of repetition and routine, and good results are not always there. It can be caused by clients or family who do not appreciate your efforts or lack of success in things you are trying to achieve. Winter time is causing depressive state of mind, and sometimes we simply are feeling that we need something completely new. New experience, new challenge, time for ourselves. It does not really matter how average or outstanding is the art we create at such events. We have to be somewhat realistic: nobody can become an artist within a few hours. However, we can still do something meaningful. It is better than simply snoozing on the couch or eating at the local fast food restaurant just because one is bored.

Creativity is present in every single one of us, it’s just so that it can be fairly tricky to put your creative abilities to the test. Well, people who love entertainment without negative side effects can certainly enjoy such an afternoon or evening.

It is fairly tough on me because I’m only one person who does everything, but I’m OK with that. It is not that such parties are every week. Therefore, you should try, too. Every neighborhood has art places that offer to enjoy painting with friends, family or colleagues.

Photo gallery shows a recent painting party. This family had chosen a scene with rocks and highly textured background. I placed all textures on canvas 2 days before the event, and it actually took me a while.

  1. Great delicious beautiful fun! I used to belong to a group like this who got together for wine snacks and art. Your photos made me miss that time.

  2. I think it’s a great idea. My daughter-in-law did the same thing with some friends at their cottage this past summer, and she really enjoyed it. If it’s not too hard on you I would do some kind of advertising ..flyers or the newspaper. Diane

    1. Thanks Diana! I cannot complain, people who want something nice find me. I love any event when people can enjoy the beauty of creation, I would say I’m born organizer and that side is easy. However, health-wise it is still hard because I’ve been on antibiotics for 6 months now. I am hopefully at the end stages of the post-surgical complications. I am waiting for the day when I can move on with life in a normal manner. Recent development shows I could maybe move soon onto the maintenance dose which is less affecting my health and less harming. It can be tough with fatigue and pancreas problems, etc.

  3. I think a is a great idea and could even defeat the so called “the burnout syndrome” in artists- The creative process is soemthing amazing, but as you have well pointed out artists are people and I feel that creativity could have its highs and lows too.
You are right as to how weather can have an effect over us too. It is not that cold here so as to snow, though, but I feel more introspective and go out less during cold days. Also when it rains I feel I want to watch TV and stay in 😉 .
You say above: “Creativity is present in every single one of us, it’s just so that it can be fairly tricky to put your creative abilities to the test”: I think you made a good point there, dear Inese!. The trick is to remain curious and dare to explore! …
Love your paintings as always!!!! 😀 Sending all my best wishes. Good luck to you. 🙂

    1. Thanks Aquileana! I am about to start watercolor class, so, I will be brief at the moment. I do have myself a very bad seasonal affective disorder, and it feels not always great, especially in combination with long-term antibiotics. I’m writing about that period in my secondary blog https://inesepogalifeschool.com/.
It is certainly worth to spend time rather creating than consuming, because there are so many rewarding moments with creativity and creation. I will visit your blog some time later when I’m done with class, that would be closer to late night.

  4. Bonjour BELLE INESE

Viens je t’emmène dans un monde de rêves

    http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/356154lumire.gif

    Bisous Bernard

  5. Hi Inese a great idea.. Painting is what I have been getting back into.. Just so absorbing it stops us getting sucked into the mire of politics and the negatives which bombard us more frequently now..
Loved that Feast of wholesome food and so enjoyed the various perspectives of paintings..
    I hope you are well..
I have felt better.. But I am pulling myself back up and out of the shadows… Sending LOVE
    And Lots of Hugs..
    Sue <3 xxx

    1. Thanks Sue! I am also seeing how much good taking the time for oneself can do.
People are running and stressing themselves out and very often the news is upsetting.
Canada is so disadvantageous when it comes to health care. I find that it is no support here for people who are self-employed and don’t want to be a burden for the system, but do something on their own. We have so many issues, but news deals only with the US. You never practically hear what our PM is doing.
Personal and relaxing time and activities is what one really is short of. I will never stop promoting art and creativity since that seems to be the only way to keep us away from devices and typing or mindlessly scrolling through media sites.
I would like the globe to wake up and return to individual things: wellness of mind, feeling wholesome and not being torn apart between million duties one assumes they have.
It is just bad that being small and alone can be a very limiting factor.
The environment here is not really art loving one: everything is profits and success.
My question is still the same: where do all very sick and exhausted people come from if everything is so great and splendid? The reality could be much brighter. My biggest hope is that people smarten up, but that is probably a long shot.
I’m somewhat ok, seeing a doctor tomorrow.
It’s nice to hear you’re feeling better. Thanks for lovely comment!

      1. Glad you are somewhat Ok Inese.. And I so agree with your words here
“I would like the globe to wake up and return to individual things: wellness of mind, feeling wholesome and not being torn apart between million duties one assumes they have.”

People have to realise they are Sick before they get better.. this is how I feel the world is at the moment.. They have not woken up to the fact that they are Ill.. 🙂 Love and Hugs xxx Good luck at your Drs xxx

        1. Thanks so much Sue! You are always so kind and it is great to know I have such a blogging friend! Happy International Women’s Day and I just published a specific topic about that on lifeschool blog because it’s my most favorite spring celebration day:
          https://inesepogalifeschool.com/2017/03/08/the-happy-women-come-from-a-place-called-appreciation-respect-and-love/
I hope you feel better also as the spring approaches because I definitely will!

        2. I know I will… 🙂 and you are welcome.. I would have kept comments open, but its taking me for ever to catch up with all who commented previously.. lol.. I will hop over and thank you for your link xx

        3. Oh, no worries about me! I understand how bad one can feel when the health gives troubles. During the last 7 months or so I had so many days when I couldn’t do anything. Anything at all, that included responding or posting on my blogs. When I had a bit more energy I would look at computer, but I just had to stay away and renew my energy resources to some more acceptable level.

        4. Yes.. I also feel too long on the Computer drains our energies too.. I spent longer than intended on it yesterday catching up and ended up going to bed after tea.. 🙂 Sending love and xxx Hugs xx

  6. BONSOIR belle INESE

    http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/637467oiseau.jpg

    Votre ami BERNARD
