Last minute gifts: one of a kind and personalized

Last minute Christmas gifts

Get some inspiration for last minute Christmas gifts: it is easy to personalize your gift by just adding some specific lettering or making up a set of something you know that person prefers.

I think that last minute gifts make up a lot of Christmas fun. For people like me who do not have all their family within reach, that is the best part of Christmas. I love making gifts, creating greeting cards and giving gifts. I wish I had more money, so more people could get their gifts and feel happy about them.

Last minute Christmas gifts and inspiration

last minute Christmas gifts in red

Last minute gifts are usually the best because they are happy findings. You might also feel inspired by some of decorating ideas.

Here are some ideas: country, Scandinavian, red, silver and gold. I have used materials from my backyard and something to make Christmas shine and sparkle, as well.

You might borrow some of mine ideas. I regret that neither phone, nor regular camera love artificial light and sparkles. Well, pictures are still festive and attractive.

Lots of people have not wrapped up all their gifts yet. Lots of people are still looking for the perfect decorations or suitable art to make the walls look more festive. Creating Christmas decorations, ornaments and art is easy because this creativity originates in love.

Fall still life: where did the time go

Still life has been my most favorite subject ever since I can remember myself. I love setting up some fruit and arrange some leaves, flowers and jars, so that it looks exactly as I like.

Time is rushing us so badly that it sometimes feels I just wake up and go back to sleep. At least, I got this feeling recently. Along with doctor’s appointments, household stuff, daily meals, cleaning, laundry, classes, preparation of new images and steps for their painting, preparation of hand-out materials, advertising, social media posts, two huge medical writing jobs: that meant there was no time to paint. Although, my show is coming up and this is a gift season for which I should have been preparing. Well, I am trying to do at least something.

I put up a few decorations yesterday, and I had to give a class later, and that was it. The day just disappeared again. Anyway, I’m posting a watercolor still life which was done about 3 weeks ago, but THERE WAS NO TIME TO POST ANYTHING!

I hope my duties will somewhat balance out during the upcoming weeks and I can get to things which I really want to do: JUST SIMPLY PAINT. Starting image for a class is not quite the same: I have to take into account all distinctive levels of skill, and we often have absolute beginners, so that painting is just an illustration for what I am saying while teaching. Showing is definitely better than only telling about it. It is very helpful also that I can see and correct things which are usually problematic: very little paint, too much water, completely dry brush, dirty brush, putting too much pressure on brush and similar basic issues  which arise with painting supplies. The one thing which is ALWAYS WRONG when painting in any medium and any subject: trying to paint with tiny bits of paint or not having paint on a brush. We have to be generous! I think, generally, generous people also have much better results when creating art, they simply are not that much afraid of wasting anything. That certainly helps!

Still life with apples and fall fruit; 16 x 12 in, watercolor on Saunders-Waterford paper. I love drawing and I love good composition, therefore, still life is a perfect genre for me.

Painting still life means for me becoming these objects. I feel like the apple in this still life, or like the pear, or even the leaf. I love soothing and attractive colors. I will also not stop painting until the still life feel right to me.

Painting takes time; at least a few hours here and there have to be set aside, so that disturbances, interruptions or hassles cannot harm the image which lives already in the imagination. I just didn’t get this chance recently, but I’m looking hopefully to the future. I intend to draw and paint more simple still life paintings. Why? I cannot frequently get out into the nature, so that is what I have around. I believe drawing still life is as good practice as drawing faces or scenes with figures. The main thing is: we teach our eyes and brain.

Art prints and other artistic products are available from Fine Art America.

Enjoy!

Inseparable fellows: desperation and delight, which one wins?

Acrylic painting, white winter

Shadows in my tea-cup, darkness behind the window and soft warmth from the small outdoor lights: that is the calming scene which surrounds me at the moment. The scent of a live fir-tree is absent, but I can certainly imagine that, too. As the year is fast approaching its end, my hopes and expectations get smaller and smaller until they will fade away completely.

What a terrible thing that is to get sick straight before Christmas and in the middle of the last potentially successful sales period! I did exactly that, I worked very hard for about a month and then my body told: that’s it; I need to shut down for a while and get some rest. Well, I missed all the potential sales opportunities since I couldn’t even lift my arm, not to mention do preparations, final touches on art or crafts, and I did not post any ads and I even did not turn on the “Open” sign.  Finally, it’s the first day now when I am a bit better, I can see the computer screen at least. What a relief!

White winter path, acrylic painting 30 x 22 inches

Well, when I hear the big numbers what people are spending during Christmas and holidays, I get even sicker. Is that even possible? Most likely it is.

I took some pictures of the recent works with my phone. It’s so dark, that trying to take a picture with my camera is totally out of question. Oh, like all people who are born under the Leo sign, I love warmth, sun and light. I love the light so much that I believe I’m not going to disappear in any darkness ever. I have actually devoted all my existence to multiplication of light. Nothing warms me more than a sunny day looking through curtains at my window.  Not good news for me so far, because nobody even knows I worked a lot to make this pre-holiday sale happen, but broke down straight before the rewarding finishing line.

I’m not a real Canadian either because I don’t put up a Christmas tree or decorations in November; I do not do the Christmas shopping until the last-minute, and therefore I am only catching up when others are way ahead of me. My Christmas means to put up the tree in the morning, decorate it around lunch time, and then cook a nice meal to have it at night. That’s how it always was since I can remember me. My dad and I went even to the forest just early on the Christmas morning sometimes. If I have everything ready month before this day, I am losing all the Christmas spirit and mood because for me these preparations are the celebration. Songs, flavors, candle lights and sparkles on the Christmas tree is all I need.

Since there is still a full week, I hope that my bank account miraculously turns from red into black, well, that might be also the only occasion when black is a good color; and I can supply myself completely with all the medications before the pharmacy shut-down period. I sincerely hope there might be a person who wishes to see some of my original paintings on their wall or assumes they are good enough to be presented as a gift. We used to say in Europe: hope is a comfort for a fool. Despite the poor odds, I won’t panic just yet. Everything goes on with or without fireworks.

Gift Certificates for Art Classes and Art

Gift certificate for art classes

Gift certificates for teen and adult art classes are really loved since everybody can enjoy them way beyond the holiday weeks. Some people who receive  art classes as a gift keep attending them and create fantastic art works for quite a few months or even years.

Please check out the schedule here: https://inesepogagallery.com/classes-workshops-schedule/

Our small groups are very friendly, and the creative atmosphere is just fantastic during these classes. We have mothers and daughters in every class: they attend together watercolor and sketching, acrylic landscape elements and acrylic large flowers. Daughters usually get so many compliments since some are just 11 or 12 years old!

I am offering private, semi-private, private kids and teens, groups art classes and art workshops, as well as one can arrange their own painting party.

Painting party info is here:  https://inesepogagallery.com/make-painting-party/

I was sorting out the images which we had used during my previous classes, and I was surprised how many pictures there were. So many classes have taken place in this studio-gallery, unbelievable! Well, there are at least 3 classes every week for the most part of the year. It is amazing how each image allows to recall the group and particular students who were creating their art based on that image.

Please let me know if you’d like to purchase a gift certificate for art classes. You can pick it up at the studio-gallery, or you can pay by e-mail transfer and get it sent to your inbox. I can send a gift certificate by regular mail, as well. Please, don’t forget to specify for which class the certificate is.

Gift certificate for art classes

All classes will resume in the third week of January.

Just like every year, I have created nice DIY decorations. I used lots of pine and spruce cones this year, I hope they will be liked.

There’s always new art, cards and 3-dimensional artworks for sale. Art is a long-lasting gift and will remind the person who received it even after many years.

Christmas crafts and art, check out to create your own Christmas crafts

Lots of people are stopping by, sales are actually better than I expected, and we decided to extend the sale until Christmas.

I noticed also that many visitors really liked the traditional colors: red, white, green and gold.

Since the previous traditional Christmas decorations were sold, I created new ones in similar style. This time I used some baskets and more greens.

You might like these ideas, as well. So, get to work.

All you need is some dry tree branches: painted cedar looks very well, some glitter, hot glue and glue gun, tissue paper in your favorite colors and some pine cones and/or fir cones. I am also using some base (what you use for live flowers or for dry flowers), that makes it easier to arrange all parts of Christmas decoration: basket, plate, jar in a nice way, and nothing moves away from its place.

I start with arrangement of greens, after that, I’m attaching fir cones, pine cones and tissue paper roses wherever they look fitting.

Christmas decorating ideas, art and craft sale

White is beautiful for Christmas decorationsThis has been very busy time. I have crafted quite a lot of different show items and using a lot of my imagination and creativity to make this show happen.

Some gifts and Christmas decorations sold very fast, so I had to make additional stuff for the silent auction.

Christmas art and craft show is exhibited on two floors: in the upstairs showroom and in the downstairs showroom. There is quite a lot of interest in creation of such Christmas decorations and DIY gifts, I suppose, I will continue doing something similar in the new year, as well.

Christmas Show and Sale: Art, Crafts, Gifts

It’s Christmas time again, and we are having our annual Christmas sale. It is richer and more interesting than ever before. I have no doubt, everyone can find something great, whether it’s a Christmas decoration, nice, hearty, one of a kind gift, painting, card or gift certificate. Gift certificates for classes and workshops are available every day, not only during the sale.

You can enjoy and possibly purchase more than 200 paintings and crafted gift items.

All decorations and gifts are crafted in the gallery and range in style from traditional to modern and trendy, both, regarding the color scheme and design. We have used mostly nature materials: fir and pine cones, apple-tree and maple branches, spruce tree branches and also some paints, glitter, tissue paper and interesting containers. You should definitely check out the one of a kind gift boxes, note books, diaries and photo albums.

We are offering only original paintings and art, including three-dimensional acrylic nature paintings in subtle and soothing colors.
