Art classes and workshops

Art classes in watercolor and acrylic painting for adults and youth 12+ by professional artist Inese Poga take place in Ajax, Ontario. My art classes will provide you with skills and knowledge, teach many aspects of painting, the specifics of your medium, the use of tools and art supplies.

My art classes teach you to think, decide, understand what, where and why. We go from the bottom up and learn about important aspects of painting. You don’t need to copy, trace, replicate, you learn creating the art you always wanted.

Since I can accept only 4 participants for each group, either acrylic or watercolor painting, please finalize your application with payment in a timely manner.

Nature and landscape, landscape elements, fan brush, brush stroke, color mixing from basic paint colors. Layering paint is the secret of volume and contrast.

Explore many techniques of using acrylic paints and the fantastic effects we can create. Knowing what your paint and brush can do is half of a good painting.

WATERCOLOR PAINTING CLASSES

WEDNESDAYS 1.30 pm-3.00 pm

March 26, April 2 and 9

Try painting larger, on 14x 18″ or 18 x 24 watercolor paper. Strathmore Cold press paper, 400 series works very well. Watercolor application techniques, use of brushes, wash and color mixing, using salt and splash. Find out how well lifting works. Spring nature to start out.

If you never heard of spontaneous watercolor painting without drawing or hardly any, maybe try it out. Fantastic results and loose application.

I always paint along with my students and provide them with explanations and recommendations not only about painting techniques, but all tools, paper, canvas, brushes and specifics of paints we use.

In-person art class is the most beneficial way to learn painting. Unlike a tutorial, it gives you insight in many techniques, use of colors and tools, as well as brushes and painting surfaces. You use your own canvas, paper, brushes and paints to learn what they can do for you. Half of painting success depends on correct and efficient use of them.

It is very beneficial to use pre-painted canvas for acrylic painting

For better painting, pre-paint canvas to prime it. One decent layer of grey or cardboard color paint has a few functions: it saturates canvas and provides with medium dark value which is very important for painting. It is easier to paint on such canvas, and the result is much better. To prime canvas, you can use leftover or low quality acrylic paint. Grey and cardboard color work for practically everything.

For watercolor painting, you will learn many essential aspects of this medium

You will learn how to prepare paper, transfer drawing, how to mix watercolor paints, what optimal water-pigment proportion is, washes, glazed washes, detailed parts, wet on wet and dry on wet techniques, correct use of brushes.

If you would like to have a class at a time which suits you, check out the SEMI-PRIVATE CLASS, PRIVATE PAINTING GROUP OF 3 and 4 PARTICIPANTS. It is a class with friends or relatives who draw or paint the same subject and use the same medium. Choose day, date and time, as well as drawing or painting subject. Payment options: email transfer (contact me via Contact us page For e-transfer) or cash. Please specify what class the payment is for: watercolor or acrylic.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

The missed group classes cannot be rescheduled because we move on, and the number of participants is very small (4 participants).

If you have a gift certificate for painting or drawing class, please be aware, it expires in 6 months of the purchase date. If you miss a class, you would be behind other participants because the group has kept working. Please, keep in mind when signing up that you should be available for all 3 acrylic painting or watercolor painting classes.
