What’s on my easel?

I had not posted anything in a while, but I have new paintings on my easel. I was feeling quite terrible for a while, though. It seems the early fall weather with abnormal humidity and heat at first and with rains and storms afterwards had really got me. I was keeping my schedule to minimum: I gave all scheduled art classes since I did not want to disappoint my students, but that was about it.

I thought I would finish paintings which I started back in August, but that was not an achievable goal. While painting keeps pain at some moderate level, it was still difficult to stay on top of all tasks and duties which I had set for me.

It usually takes some time to recover completely, and my new website and initiation of the other lifestyle blog will have to wait for a better moment. Meanwhile, we have been working on some new projects. I have been doing some painting, too, regardless of all disturbing matters. I have nice frames for most of these paintings, and hopefully the final stage won’t take too long.

One more thing: when photographed, acrylic paintings do not look right. I am sometimes trying different camera settings, different light conditions, different distances and sizes. I have to admit that only very large acrylic paintings look close to their originals. It is sometimes very annoying because the photo sort of shows completely distinctive colors.

  1. Thanks Natalie! I feel like that time to time because I had large number of fractures, and when some spot starts to ache, some kind of chain reaction goes on until I cannot move for a while. It usually becomes more tolerable when the weather returns to normal, but there hasn’t been any single day without any pain at all since that accident in 1992. Well, we have to deal with what we have. Thank you for your prayers! Blessings to you for your kind heart!

  2. Hi Inese…I don’t know what your accident was…but I pray for you to have relief from your pain!! Life becomes difficult to manage when you have daily pain. Your paintings are lovely!
Take care of yourself…much love! <3

    1. Thanks Lorrie! That accident was long ago in 1992, and I’m used to some mild or moderate pain, but when the weather gets extreme or I do something wrong, like too much walking, unintentionally running or walking too fast, etc., I get to feel this for quite a while. Thanks for you kind comment about paintings!

  3. These are beautiful. Rest and heal. I’ve been away from my quilting for a month, with travel and then illness and just starting to feel myself again, so I know the frustration of not being able to work as you might like. The beauty is inside you and will come to the canvas when you are well.

  4. Sorry to hear that you’ve been feeling poorly Inese. I hope you will feel better soon. Do you think some yoga or qigoing practise will help with the pain? You can consider : )

    1. Hi Monica,
Thanks for consider this stuff. Well, there were just too many fractures, so there is no chance to do any yoga or anything similar. I am always happy when I can move without troubles. I can sometimes dance, no problem, but it can happen that I cannot walk for a while. I am used to all this, but it is still very limiting and upsetting because does not allow following my intentions.

    2. Ok I understand. There is book by Jon Kabat Zinn called Full Catastrophe Living. He is a well known psychiatrist who helps people with pain management through mindfulness training including meditation and relaxation. You may want to consider reading it if you are curious at any time. Take care of yourself Inese. Hugs.

    3. Thanks Monica! I’ve been actually also a medical writer and researcher for about 30 years; and the long hospital stay just made me more aware of injuries and conditions people have to live with. It’s been more than a year I wanted to start sharing my large knowledge in this field via another blog because this one I’d love to leave for art and related themes, but it’s never enough time. Apart from research which involves reviewing new clinical trial results and treatment options, I am reading books and articles written by other specialists, too. The worst part of this is that sometimes it all goes wrong and falls apart. Oh, I will be fine again, like I said, we had a very harsh weather with huge temperature and atmospheric condition fluctuations. Thanks for your advise!

    4. Your background is very interesting and I really look forward to your new blog when you manage to launch it. Meanwhile, I wish you good health and smiles again : )

    5. Thanks Monica! Well, I suppose, it’s because I love learning. I have a strong idea and even prepared articles (some 20-30), but it hasn’t happened yet. I am recovering and getting back in shape. I appreciate your kind comments, encouragement and support a lot! Have a great Sunday!

    1. Thanks! Indeed, I believe everybody who takes pictures of their own acrylic paintings has faced this at some point. The smaller the painting, the worse its pic will be because camera somehow picks out some special spots which are not the same what the human eye notices as the most important, so colors change, relationships between parts are different, impact changes and, honestly, sometimes it does not look like the same painting.
I have started to feel better, oh, so happy about that!

    1. Painting sure allows to forget about pain plenty of times. The worst moments are when it is impossible to do nothing, that happens, too, but, I am much better now. Thanks for asking, it most likely was the impact of the weather. Thanks for your nice comment about these flowers, they still need to be finished. Have a great day!

    1. Thanks! I appreciate your nice comment a lot! I sometimes need this positive feedback a lot because there are some health troubles at the moment, and supportive comments and opinions keep me going!
