Summer poetry in colors and lines

The poetic medium – watercolor

Watercolor is a very poetic medium. That’s not only because of its flow and easy transition of colors, it is also because nothing else captures our mood, idea, concept or scene as impressive and as fast as watercolor does. Managing classic watercolor painting takes mastery. We can apply it very abstractly allowing water and pigment to create the initial shapes and values, or we can use watercolor in many layers making it opaque and creating strong dimension and volume.

World watercolor month

World watercolor month is getting close to its end. I usually do not devote or create specific paintings during July, but keep using it as I normally would since it is one of my preferred mediums. I like applying watercolor in many different ways: from very abstract to very detailed and from almost animated to very realistic. Our painting style is usually a summary of our personal objectives and intentions. Generally, I do not aim for a very lifelike look, but rather impression my artwork makes. I participate in shows and exhibitions and I want my art to be visible and standing out among hundreds of other paintings. It quite often does thanks to style, colors and large size.

Good energy

Please enjoy the gallery, and you might like to purchase some art or art print which comes in numerous options for frames, mats and printing surfaces. Print is not original, but in specific spaces it definitely serves the purpose: it gives a space complete look and never stops inspiring and being beautiful. There is never too much beauty in our surroundings. Good art is valuable because of energy it sends out. Energy presence is almost touchable in my art.

African violet, watercolor
African violet, watercolor, 20 x 14 in or 51 x 36 cm

I used to have numerous African violet plants.

A few survived, and these are the ones I have been painting.

Garden roses, floral watercolor

Garden roses on fence were painted in winter of 2019.

Probably the saddest time ever. since my mom passed away in February.

All paintings of this time are so uplifting, light and cheerful. For balance.

Pansies, watercolor
Purple pansies, 20 x 14 in or 51 x 36 cm

Pansies belong to my favorite painting models. Purple fits them well because of all variations.

Purple pansies are somewhat abstracted and painted using watercolor wash and a few strong edges.

The summer still life paintings have been in creation for a long time. I started them probably in 2016, but they got their finishing touches only now. They both have very vibrant colors, just as summer vegetables do, and everything which has great shape worth capturing, suits my still life well. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks!
It’s one of rose series, there are more of the same type. When I painted them, it was cold and windy outside, so, I wanted to give them some feature of light and warmth.
      I appreciate your nice comment!

    1. That’s great. I was outdoors looking at my garden, it’s doing so well, it also deserves some capture.

    1. Thanks Craig! That’s the idea. I appreciate your nice comments.

    2. Thanks very much! I thought there was something good in that message!

  1. I love your floral watercolors, Inese, and I totally agree with the fact that art has a special energy and vibe to it. And it speaks to our soul. And your beautiful paintings stand out and speak to the soul

    1. hanks! A a lot of energy, that’s why old paintings and sometimes inherited paintings can be also dangerous.
We have to be aware of what we want to bring in our house.
It’s best we use art which artist painted in hopeful, good mood. Colorful, vibrant art is good since it warms the space and make sit cozy.

    2. I never thought about the energy of old paintings and inherited ones. But now that you mention it, I really think that it’s important to consider it. And I surely love the positivity and vibrancy that you pour into your art. Have a beautiful and creative day!

    3. Energy in our space is very important, so is the one which you receive from people, who surround you.
Using antiques and old, even ancient things always comes with acknowledging their history. We’ve been told to really stay away from old mirrors. Well, mirror has all impressions of the person, who looks into it.
I always advise people to hang on their walls art which speaks to them, makes them feel refreshed, inspired and good. Gruesome scenes are not for the home environment. Museum is a good place for any artistic ramblings, even if they lead to some pretty dark and nasty places. Home is for everything that recharges us and doesn’t interfere with energy flow. It’s been discussed there is no bad energy, just energy, but probably its source and its intensity makes all the difference.

    4. I realize when discussing with you that I have items around the house (not necessary paintings) that I have to consider or reconsider. I’m a flee marker fan and I found a lot of interesting pieces that I can use for my jewelry designs, but I have to admit that I bought also a lot of books and decorations and some of them do not speak to me anymore…. maybe even they’re making me lose energy and feel drained… And I also think that the things and people that we surround with influence us a lot, so we should spend more time with people and among objects that uplift and inspire us. Have a beautiful and joy-filled week-end!

    5. You are right!
I do buy books at second-hand store, too, just because I’d have to spend fortune for new books reading at a speed as I am used to. I put them through cleaning process, though, before I even open, touch and read them.
That involves a few steps from which the first one is to simply disinfect carefully every single book, then I perfume them slightly with my favorite Lancome Idol perfume, then I put them away in a neutral space to rest for at least 4 days. Having salt in an open dish in that space is good because salt will absorb any unwanted energies. You through salt out afterwards, it’s no way for consumption.
Buying materials is probably fine, and since you reuse them in a different way, you give them new life. With the worst cases, we say a prayer over that item, and ask for it to be cleaned.
I had one occasion when I had a book which I had to throw out and burn. I didn’t buy it, it was given to me with bad intention.
Like you said, you have to trust your intuition and listen to your subconscious voice which will definitely tell you what’s worth keeping.
Nobody should ever keep in living space items which relate to or come from a cemetery. it’s pretty much a common sense and gut feel.
Certainly, if you feel like some old things are getting on your nerves, causing irritated mood, or worse, they feel like something heavy, or dark, or depressing, just get rid of them or keep out of a space where you are most often, like some back porch or some outdoor area.
