Summer landscape – fantastic subject

What to paint in the summertime? If you are in the countryside, traveling or live in the suburbs, I believe it’s impossible to avoid painting at least a few landscapes. What do we include in the summer landscape? Everything which speaks to us or says loudly: it’s hot, it’s wonderful, and it’s summer. My summer landscape is based on my surroundings and what I see outdoors. My private park has numerous wildflowers, and it is actually rather wild with huge old trees, various greases and plants.

Summer landscape paintings

We can interpret any landscape in numerous ways. Choosing certain color for wildflowers, buildings, sunny or cool color for grasses, adding trees or water, roads or fences – it depends only on artist where you want your viewer to go. I would like my viewer and art collector to feel happy about what nature provides us with, enjoy the views which might not be around forever. In that regard, I am documenting the natural beauty before we kill the Earth completely. Thee is so much beauty in the simplest summer landscape.

In my opinion, taking pictures of art and then posting them as separate images without background, literary destroys the art. I do that still because many places require to do so. Original art breathes and emits plenty of great, uplifting energy. All devices and cameras take away a lot already, and the small image you can see on the phone isn’t really my painting. It’s gone through numerous adjustments and algorithms. Regardless of that, I hope the energy within my summer landscape paintings is still visible.

These particular paintings were created between 2010 and 2021. There are many more, but one post can include only few images. I believe I already added too many pictures, but – when else to allow color to sparkle and imagination to run freely?  I intend to initiate Studio 65 sale to celebrate my birthday. That’s pretty much the only celebration I will have. Most of paintings are available as originals and also as prints. Originals are available from my art studio in Ajax, Ontario, Canada. Prints – anywhere.

Bright and happy, we could use more of that, couldn’t we?

Wish me well? Maybe buy a small art print or all kinds of things with my art, including puzzles, from my Fine Art America site:

    1. Thanks very much Tanja!
I so appreciate your nice comment. I wish I could sell something, definitely. I simply do not have here any friends and relatives, so such celebration would make sense.
I hope your summer is going on just fine!

    2. This is not meant in a flippant way, Inese, but maybe it would be good for you to join a group that shares some of your interests (not necessarily painting) in order to make some new friends.

    3. Thanks Tanja!
Well, I relocated to Canada when I was almost 50. That’s why I have no real friends here, no relatives either, except my husband, everybody is in Europe. Now, I have some health issues after a really bad accident many years ago, and they pretty much cause me to stay at home mostly. It can be hard to walk. Therefore, I only meet people who come to my studio. Next thing is, we rent and move often. 3 times already just between 2018 and now. That’s briefly how it is. It’s also not easy to make friends once one has reached retirement age. I have virtual friends, sure. Including people who I’ve never met in person, but feel like I know them. I’ve done this blog since 2011.
When it comes to inviting somebody here, I’ve tried, but people are very busy and they sure have lots of more exciting things to do.
Joining online groups is fine, but that doesn’t replace real contact. Yet, the people I would love to attend my party are all in Europe. I didn’t manage to make new friends here, probably because everything I do, I have to do alone. Which is ok, I’m very busy whenever pain allows doing something.
I hope you have a good summer!

    4. Thank you for sharing some of your life experiences with me, Inese.
Having to deal chronic health issues makes everything more difficult and challenging. I’m glad you find a creative outlet with your beautiful paintings and hope you aren’t too lonely.
      Warmest wishes for you,
      Tanj

    5. Well, I’ve been self-employed all these almost 20 years since in Canada. It hasn’t been easy, and pandemic was really troublesome.
Canada is not the best place for doing arts, I believe the US is way better. Just to mention I had my art published on the US magazine covers, I believe in 2011 and 2012. I always have way more sales to the US customers. Both prints and originals.
My chronic pain is bad at times, and the current humid and hot weather wasn’t helping.
I’m originally from Latvia, and Latvians have extremely ancient work ethics, as well as they are always creative. Meaning also when you need something, you create it rather than buy at the store. I’m a very good gardener, a very good fashion designer (60 years sewing!!!) and I pretty much can cover all life’s necessities. I love cooking since I started cooking as a small kid. You get the idea.
I personally believe some things cannot be taught: good taste and feeling of composition and design.
      I appreciate your nice comments!

    1. Thank you very much!
I’m trying hard to display my paintings so that they look more or less like they should. I do need to post only pure image of each painting, but it really takes off a lot.

    1. Thanks very much!
The weather currently is so hot and so humid that it’s impossible to paint or do anything, but I will certainly have something new as it gets more normal.
I hope you have a good summer!

    2. Yes, it’s really strange. We were always looking forward to the summer, but in recent years – not that much. Unfortunately, summer isn’t what it used to be. The humidity has stayed on this year, and as you’re saying, together with heat, it’s unbearable.
Well, there will be lots of time to complain about rainy, cold and windy fall, so until then, – we just have to endure what we have.
      All the best!

    1. Thanks very much!
I hope to return to painting this week. It was impossible to do anything this summer due to abnormal heat and humidity.
      The weather has big impact.
      All the best!
