New painting season and art classes

New painting season to match changes in nature

As the seasons change and the fall makes us feel its presence, a new painting season starts. I switch from summer projects to abundance of sparkling colors and more autumnal subjects. For students who take the brush in their hands for the first time and for experienced artists, it is a great moment to submerge oneself into this fantastic experience of creation. The nostalgic feel of something going away, the thoughtfulness of nature preparing for sleep, the dance of leaves in the backyard and harvest on the table: this is an never ending inspiration for poets and artists alike.

Wide choice of medium and subject options

The new painting season is going to be rich in colors and painting subjects. All media capture fall colors well. Watercolor does it with bright washes and brilliance of pure color, like the transparent fall sky and the gold and red of leaves. Acrylic allows for numerous layers, thus polishing the painting to a perfect fall art. We can use pastel and pencil also, why not? I hope I and my current students will create something impressive. We already welcomed the new painting season with the first set of acrylic painting classes.

New season of painting classes

Painting classes have always been popular. I used to have participants who attended my painting classes every week, month after month, and so for quite a few years. That was before the online classes and tutorials started to take over the internet space. The advantage of art class as opposed to tutorial or paint night is very significant: art classes teach you to use tools, explore surfaces, many techniques, as well as painting and drawing subjects. The goal of art classes is to teach you to become independent and to be able to paint or draw anything afterwards.

The story told by trees

During this new painting season, we will allow trees to tell their story, allow the brush to dance on canvas. We will use sponge and fan brush because that’s a very fantastic way to capture fall nature. One just needs to know how to go about that and what colors and in what sequence to use. I love watercolor, I love acrylic painting, and there’s nothing wrong with color sketch or simple ink or pencil drawing. However, the new painting season will be devoted to new type of art which will shine not only through composition, color choices, but also new approaches and techniques.

  1. Love seeing your Autumnal pieces Inese….I love the Autumn season and your creations are beautiful windows that bring the warmth and enchantment so close you can almost smell and feel it. Thank you for sharing your talents, vision, and guidance.

    1. Thank you Tania Marie for this fantastic comment!
Autumn is a source of endless inspiration. Poetic in nature and rich in color, the fall season offers a lot to capture.
I believe everybody experiences some kind of emotional response to these changes in nature. Colors are definitely hard to beat.
I hope you have a good fall season!

    1. Thanks very much Jo-Anne!
I have many paintings which were left unfinished or lack the last touch. Here and there, I just bring them to completion.
I can finally start doing something since the summer was really bad with the extreme heat and humidity.
      All in good time.
I hope you have a good fall season!

  2. I’m using the ‘Reader’ to see if I can comment here. What I had wanted to say was that I love this time of year and your paintings are amazing. I was wondering Inese… ‘do you paint from photos you take or just what you decide to paint… in your mind’s eye?

    1. Thanks very much!
I use sometimes pictures for classes, and most of these paintings were demonstrations for classes. When I paint on my own, I usually have some idea first, and I imagine which colors I use, and sometimes I have a photo reference, but I never try to copy it.
It’s great to just paint whatever you want to be on your canvas. And use the colors you prefer, like I had the grey periods, and blue, and then reds, so on.
      All the best to you!

  3. I love the collection of Autumn canvas’s Inese… They are each of them beautiful paintings.. I do especially like the Moon with the wonderful Moon Shadow from the trees… This really caught my eye…
I can never get enough of trees in nature… And you capture them so well Inese..
Lovely to be back in blog land again…
And I look forward to your Story of trees… I also enjoy experimenting with a small sponge for tiny leaves effects… and the fan brush also another excellent tool.. Though I am not half as good as you … I enjoy dabbling and creating..
I have been experimenting more with water colours recently… And I still think I am working in acrylics at times.. I need to be lighter in my creations with water colours… But its only how we learn..

Sending Huge hugs your way my friend.. Enjoy your Autumn creations.. <3 xx

    1. Thanks so much Sue!
Moon paintings are a good way to test our blending ability, but sponge and fan brush help covering any area fast. It’s much faster than simply brushing.Everything takes some practice, but as long as we enjoy the creative process, something good should come out of this.
I hope you have a good fall season!

    2. We all love warmth and sunny weather.
This is a perfect time to use watercolors and practice watercolor washes, I intend to post something soon.
      All the best!

  4. Autumn is in full swing here now, not as colorful as where you live, but beautiful in its own way. Your paintings take me back to days in New England, where I am originally from. These are all so beautiful. Thank you, Inese.

    1. It’s a good time to engage in bright colors. When else if not now?
It’s also a beautiful subject to emphasize one’s individual touch.
Thanks very much and enjoy whatever your fall season brings to you!

  5. The “story told by trees” is a beautiful one. Hope you have a wonderful season of new students in your upcoming classes! Take care.

    1. Thanks so much! It seems everything is picking up.
The season has been mild and kind so far, and I believe it will continue that way.
      I appreciate the great comment!

  6. Wow, Inese!! What beautiful paintings…you sure captured the season in great detail and feeling! It has been a while and I hope that you are well! It sure looks like you are based on the art you are creating. Sending all good energy <3

    1. Thanks very much Lorrie!
Especially for the energy which I need a lot. So many things to do every day, and I am sort of behind. Not posting too often, not following up too timely. Once I have set up and started the current classes, it will be easier.
I will catch up at some point.
      All the best to you!

    2. I understand, Inese! I am particularly stressed right now as I can’t seem to focus the way that I want to. There are many projects in the works for me, and I miss being here as much as I used to be. But I have to let all that go, and just be in each moment. Sending the same wish for you…to be in each moment and live it fully <3

    3. Well, not enough hours in a day.
I’m just doing whatever I can, too.
I’m basically not stressed out, however, something is always late or I’m not doing it at all.
We ourselves are the priority, what’s the point to rush if we cannot look after ourselves first?
      All the best, Lorrie!

    4. Thanks, Inese!! And, 100% agree. It has taken me a while but I am really into self-care now…and it makes a huge difference in all aspects of my life. Here’s to all good things! <3

    5. Definitely. Nobody else is going to do that for you, so, yes, we have to make ourselves a priority. It doesn’t matter what one has achieved if they are all sick and broken and unable to enjoy it. Therefore, love to oneself always comes first and others can love you because of that.
All the best to you and be well!

    1. Thank you very much Tanja!
I do love this time which makes me also slightly sad since all this beauty passes away too soon.
My only problem at the moment is to categorize and somehow create catalogues of art I have. I have thousands of drawings, numerous watercolors and many acrylic paintings. I frequently cannot find what I am looking for because storage is tight and not spacious enough. I should have listed everything many years ago, and it seems something impossible now.
Well, painting is great, and dealing with paperwork, etc. is not. Yet, I’d love to know what I have, what was sold and so forth. Lots of boring work.
All the best to you! I hope your fall season is also rich in color and has plenty to offer!
